Brand Foundation

The company’s founder, Jayme Huele, came to Hype seeking a verbal and visual solution for Breadbox that would match the brand’s holistic values and appeal to her growing audience. We began by establishing who The Breadbox Apothecary was at its core, its tone of voice, and its consumer promises. This led us to anchor the company’s messaging in history, pointing to the proven success of herbalism through generations and pairing it with the modern advances of today’s science. This allowed The Breadbox Apothecary to take on the descriptor phrase we dubbed “New World Herbalism”, living somewhere in the middle of past and present and truly taking the best of both worlds.

Branding

Once that foundation was established, we moved into creative exploration and began crafting a unique visual identity system that Breadbox could thrive in. The hero product we took specific focus on was Jayme’s Elderberry Tonic — an all-natural, organic elderberry syrup with enough nutrient-rich ingredients to kick your immune system into overdrive. We kept this tonic top-of-mind as we created a well-rounded brand system that allowed for flavor and product extension. Through hand-drawn illustrations of unique ingredients, cheeky assets, and an attractive color palette of deep green and bright violet, our team was able to deliver a completely unique brand for Breadbox that looks as good as it tastes.

Packaging

After establishing a unique brand system for The Breadbox Apothecary, we focused on applying the elements to Jayme’s Elderberry Tonic. It was important that the bottle, although medicinal, could be as visually appealing as a young beverage brand and therefore attract the right audience. We focused on highlighting the superior quality of ingredients on the label, and positioned it next to a custom floral illustration that communicated the natural and organic nature of the brand.

We topped off the project with a stylized studio session of the completed bottles, along with a variety of the unique ingredients found in the elderberry tonic. From rosehips, to astragulus root, and everything in between, we wanted to make sure everyone who sees The Breadbox Apothecary knows the amount of quality ingredients that go into each bottle.

The results have us feeling better than ever, mainly because of the amount of elderberry tonic we’ve been sipping as we captured these lovely shots.
