Big Storm Distillery

The team at Big Storm Brewery contacted us to develop a brand identity and packaging system for their new distillery products. Their mission was to extend their brewery production to create premium spirits, as a tribute to Floridians. We jumped right in on this exciting opportunity and started developing their brand foundation.

Brand Foundation

Big Storm Distillery wanted to separate themselves from the brewery and needed a written identity that showcased their commitment to producing world-class premium spirits with a local flair. We honed in on their mission, values and loyalty to consumers and helped to develop their personality, voice and tone. In addition, we crafted the distillery’s brand positioning, promise, manifesto, and core beliefs. What resulted was a series of unique key messages, tag-lines, and phrases seen and felt throughout the brand experience.

Brand Development

This branding project called for a unique solution that would differentiate the Big Storm Distillery identity from the existing Big Storm Brewing brand. In doing so, our goal was to develop a design that captured Florida’s tropical vibe, while also appealing to a variety of audiences and ages. Our identity packaged included a variety of custom logo marks, brand assets, textures, and colors which would then be used on their new packaging.

The primary color palette of blues and off-whites create a serene vibe that mimics many of the colors seen throughout Florida. Overall, we wanted this distillery line to feel friendly, bright, and approachable.

Packaging Design

Once we finalized the brand, it was time for our team to dive into the packaging portion of the project. Overall, we wanted this design to embody a coastal and sophisticated vibe. We achieved this by using a combination of white space paired with pops of unique hierarchy and typography. As you can see on the photo below, we utilized many of the brand assets on the front and sides of the label. We then applied the blue color palette for a tropical and approachable feel.

We concluded the project with a stylized studio session of the finalized bottles, along with a variety of ways in which their product could be used to craft cocktails. From blueberries, to raspberries, mint, lemon and sugar cubes, we wanted to make sure everyone who sees the new Big Storm Distillery products knows how well-versatile the liquors can be.
