Located in Downtown St. Pete, Top Slice Pizzeria is your neighborhood pizza joint. The Top Slice team takes a thoughtful approach to everything they create, from their carefully-selected ingredients to the space you’ll enjoy them in. The combination of artisanal pies, excellent service and inviting atmosphere keep their customers coming back. When they decided it was time for a brand refresh they reached out to Hype, and we couldn’t have been more excited.

In reinventing the brand messaging for Top Slice we wanted to avoid pizza cliches and instead strive for something a bit more unexpected and memorable. Our messaging was crafted to be bold, energetic, fun and accessible to everyone from the daytime lunch crowd to late-night pizza lovers.

Brand Development

For the new Top Slice Pizzeria logo we designed a custom wordmark with a funky edge, inspired by modern Italian type styles. We also included an accompanying monogram enclosed in a simple pizza shape. Eye-catching typography is a key feature of this concept with big, bold headlines and typefaces combined in interesting ways. We paired a warm, vibrant red with black and neutral tones for a fresh and inviting feel.

Brand Evolution

Once we established the core identity, we began to think about how this brand would live in the restaurant and beyond. We reimagined the restaurant’s wall art, pizza boxes, apparel, signage and menus to reflect a bold new brand topped with plenty of personality. The brand’s playful messaging comes to life in the form of fun typographic posters that capture the essence of downtown St. Pete.
