Defining a local favorite’s brand identity.

Ybor City has provided rich and diverse culture to Florida’s west coast for more than a century. This National Historic Landmark District is home to many eclectic bars, restaurants and businesses. Among these is First Chance Last Chance, a local favorite that was in dire need of a brand identity.

Owners Robert Fausette and Mark Sestilio selected Hype Group to give this brand its second chance. As most clients do, they gave our team complete creative freedom for their new brand concept.

In developing the concept behind the brand, we ensured every element had purpose. The idea stems from the definition of chance. We took the two existing identities and distilled it into one strong logo. This typographic logo was inspired by old cigar packaging and wrappers, paying homage to Ybor City’s Cuban culture.

In addition to the logo, we designed assets and illustrations to accompany the brand. These graphical elements emphasize the idea of “luck” and “chance,” drawing from popular culture and age-old adages.

Our creative team also designed an exterior lookbook which included a full wall mural, signage, and rules on accent color placement. Not only is this a powerful brand in person, it captures the ‘dive bar’ feel on a digital landscape via creative website design.
